On Monday 15 April BBC Radio 3 paid a special tribute to Sir Neville Marriner by devoting the whole day to his life in music, culminating in a broadcast concert from St Martin-in-the-Fields. Lady Marriner was in the audience surrounded by family and friends. Sir Neville’s grandson, Douglas Marriner, presented the concert with Martin Handley. His son, Andrew Marriner, made sure everything ran smoothly. The Academy of St Martin in the Fields and chorus played as though Sir Neville was there in person. What a day …
The celebrations continued with a concert at Wigmore Hall on 16 April. On 18 April a concert will be held at Festival Hall and the orchestra will then travel to Lincoln, where Sir Neville was born, to give a concert on 24 April in the Cathedral.
